Frequently Asked Questions
Will an off-leash dog area be included in the design?
While we won't be including an off-leash area in the design of 16th and St Andrews Park, within a five to ten minute walk there will be two new neighbourhood off-leash dog areas coming to the neighbourhood soon.
The new park at 1600 Eastern is a five minute walk away from 16th and St Andrews, one block east of Lonsdale Avenue. The leash-optional area is designed to be fully fenced, with a water fountain, play boulders, and surrounded by shrub plants to act as a natural buffer.
The second neighbourhood dog area is located at the new Crest Building at 8th Street and Lonsdale Avenue. Fully fenced with artificial turf, the future Dog Plaza will also include an array of playing areas.
How are you protecting and supporting trees in the area?
An arborist report was created that identified existing healthy trees on the future park site. We're working to ensure that the trees remain protected and retained throughout the public consultation, park design development, and construction.
