What is the Community Wellbeing Strategy?

"Community wellbeing is the combination of social, economic, environmental, health, cultural, and political conditions that are essential for individuals and communities to flourish and fulfil their potential".

The City has developed a draft Community Wellbeing Strategy, which will be is a holistic framework for setting policy and taking action to improve overall community wellbeing in the City of North Vancouver over the next 10 years.

What's in the Draft Strategy: The Path Forward

The draft Strategy includes six pathways focused on enhancing and supporting our wellbeing. Each pathway provides clear policy directions and a series of objectives that communicate expectations and guide decision-making and actions to achieve the Strategy.

The pathways include:

1. Complete Communities

2. Housing for All

3. A City for All Ages

4. Inclusion, Diversity, Equity + Accessibility

5. Poverty Reduction + Inclusive Economy

6. Partnerships, Advocacy + Financial Supports

Read the draft Community Wellbeing Strategy or Summary Document for more details.

The draft Strategy was developed based on existing City plans and policies; phase 1 community engagement and input; ongoing work and input from interested and impacted parties, non-profits, businesses, First Nations and other levels of government; current trends and precedent research; identified gaps in current programs and services; public health information and the City’s related work on related plans and strategies.

We Want to Hear From You

We will be seeking public feedback on the draft Strategy beginning September 6. Watch for ways to get involved, including a survey, pop-up locations throughout the community, and more. In the meantime:
