35 Years in the Neighbourhood

Based on my lengthy tenure in the Neighbourhood, I have been walking past this site for more than 35 years. The two buildings being demolished have been aged since I first recall. I believe no changes have been made to the streets and sidewalks and overhead infrastructure in that time. Now another half block frontage along East 16th Street is being proposed for f]devlopmnent and assemblies exist on East 15th for the rest of that block as well. The park should take these assemblies into consideration as well as the City's adopted and published Parks Plan. I have corresponded with Planning Staff on previous development proposals asking for the roads to be reconsidered here with more soft space and a grater pedestrian and parks focus. The roads, particularly East 16th between St. Georges and Grand Boulevard are too wide for the amount of traffic they will handle and the City should consider the entire area not just this corner when planning for this pedestrian oriented corridor -- I have used the term Green Bracelet in the past - a shorter flatter route than the GN.
