Where is Eastview Park?

Eastview Park is located on the eastern boundary of the City between Rufus Drive and Mountain Highway. The 2.8-hectare neighborhood park is accessed for its wooded walking trails, open spaces and disc golf course. The park is used by neighbours as well as disc golf players from across the North Shore and beyond.

Why are we undertaking a review of improvement opportunities for Eastview Park?

On February 6, 2023, in a Notice of Motion, Council directed staff to: evaluate options that ensure the long-term sustainability of Eastview Park as a welcoming and safe place for people of all ages and abilities by addressing the potential for conflict between Eastview Park uses, including disc golf users, through the possible relocation of disc golf to another City or Metro Vancouver park.

What is the Eastview Park Improvements project timeline?

    • Spring 2023 – Research and Site Analysis: Staff undertook research and site analysis of the park.
    • June-July 2023 – Community Engagement: Included community workshops, survey, and park pop-ups.
    • Summer-fall 2023 – Develop Recommendations: Staff reviewing findings and developing recommendations for Council consideration.
    • Early 2024 – Report to Council: Present recommendations to Council for consideration (updated from late fall 2023).
    • 2024 – Implement Park Improvements: based on Council direction.

What recent changes have been made to the disc golf course in Eastview Park?

In April 2023, the disc golf course in Eastview Park was temporary reconfigured to improve safety in known conflict areas. Changes included removing three holes and moving some tee pads and baskets closer together.

How many disc golf courses are there on the North Shore?
