Phase 1 Summary & Wrap-Up
April 30, 2021: Thank you for your interest in our Mobility Strategy. Our Phase 1 input period has concluded, and we're now working through all of your feedback on our early ideas for a vision, goals, and key directions for our new plan. Check back for updates.
The City of North Vancouver is developing a Mobility Strategy to improve how we move around our City. When finished, this strategy will be our playbook for guiding decisions about how we plan, design, operate and maintain our transportation system today and over the next decade.
A New Way Forward
Our City is changing. We are moving around differently and there is more demand on our streets. We need to be strategic about making the best use of limited space we have on our streets. We need healthy streets that work for everyone. Learn more about our mobility network and how we are moving within our City and to other areas in the Lower Mainland.
Shifting Focus
Mobility is more than just getting from one place to another. It’s about having safe, efficient, and affordable choices to count on to easily get you where you need to go – work, school, parks, community centres, shops, and more.
The Mobility Strategy will replace our Long-Term Transportation Plan (LTTP) that was created in 2008. Much has changed since then and it is time for us to prepare for what’s next by developing a transportation plan with strategic actions and policies that will help take us towards our goals. Learn more about other ways we are shifting focus to develop our Mobility Strategy.
We’ve Developed a Starting Point for Our Strategy
Over the last few months, we’ve been developing an initial framework for our Mobility Strategy. This framework outlines our early ideas for a vision, goals, and set of strategies to help us re-envision how we move in our City and beyond. We’ve developed this framework based exploring some of the key trends and circumstances influencing our transportation system, best practices in transportation planning, regular input from the community, and the guiding principles in our City’s Official Community Plan. This framework provides a starting point for our strategy.
Thanks For Your Feedback
The vision, goals, and strategies we are proposing for our Mobility Strategy are still just early ideas. The input and ideas you shared with us in March and April will be used to help refine this framework to ensure it reflects the values and priorities of our community as a whole. Later this spring, we will start to develop a full draft strategy that will be shared later this year for review and input. Learn more about our timelines.
