We’ve developed a design for a new neighbourhood park at 16th Street East and St Andrews Avenue. Our goal is to create an inclusive, sustainable park that supports active family fun in East Central Lonsdale. The proposed design includes:

  • All ages play equipment
  • Pathways with lighting
  • A variety of seating options
  • Planted areas and trees
  • A weather protected area
  • An open grass slope

    Rainy North Vancouver

by Rika, almost 2 years ago

    Hello,

I have a teenager boy who really likes play basketball.
but in raining day he can’t find anywhere to play basketball.
Yes community centre has gym. However they have limited time and cost and even registration. If there are under roof basketball hoops would be great for kids. I hope you will make great park that we can go outside even rainy days!!!
    please and thank you!!!

    Dog area | Trees |

by Shawn, almost 2 years ago
I want to see my child if I am sitting with a friend. Please don't make the slide so hidden behind trees.

Can there be a small dog friendly area?

Where are the washroom if you want children to play.

    Thank you,

    35 Years in the Neighbourhood

by RICHARD, almost 2 years ago

Based on my lengthy tenure in the Neighbourhood, I have been walking past this site for more than 35 years. The two buildings being demolished have been aged since I first recall. I believe no changes have been made to the streets and sidewalks and overhead infrastructure in that time. Now another half block frontage along East 16th Street is being proposed for f]devlopmnent and assemblies exist on East 15th for the rest of that block as well. The park should take these assemblies into consideration as well as the City's adopted and published Parks Plan. I have corresponded with... Continue reading

    Seniors

by Liza, almost 2 years ago
The City was good enough to add more picnic tables to Victoria and Mahon Parks this summer so my friend and I, both in our 70s, could meet for a game of Scrabble. Neither of us are able to carry picnic chairs or sit on the ground, so provided tables and chairs are much appreciated. Finding shade during hottest days was difficult at Victoria Park so shade structures would provide areas we could be comfortable in sun or rain and continue to play. And I love the hill slide!

    Bathrooms, PLEASE!!

by jtielker, almost 2 years ago
When my kids were little we lived at St. Andrews Park and loved it. The only downside to the otherwise perfect park was there were no washrooms. They have since installed an outhouse but since we are in the planning phase of this amazing looking park, PLEASE put washrooms somewhere on site. Thank you.

    Would love more outdoor spaces

by Tijana, almost 2 years ago

As a mom of two little ones we would much appreciate a multi-purpose outdoor space close to home. I love the idea of the big slide and the boulder climb, I think kids of all ages would love that. Plus have various seating around the park is much needed. I would love to see outdoor concerts on the little stage and the community filling up the grass seating in the future.

    Covered areas needed

by nattered, almost 2 years ago
The park is lovely and multi use. With covid showing us we need to do more outside connections i have found there are not many covered areas that are not filled with picnic tables. A covered area that can host blankets or camp chairs would be very useful in the rainy seasons for community programs, group social meetings and personal family events.

    Promising design

by raws0n, almost 2 years ago
The design looks very promising if it actually turns out like that. Really like that outdoor exercise equipment is added as currently the closest options are at Mahon and they're always quite popular in the summer. Lots of seating options would be great as well.

    Play and eating

by kbaker, almost 2 years ago

Our family would use the play structure, the slide, and the climbing wall for fun with our 5 year old boy, and we would use the seats and tables to have picnics. We would also meet friends there to play and enjoy company.
